Record-Setting Field Registers for 2011 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing National Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, May 11, 2011– Tournament organizers announced today that 191 teams representing 380 collegiate anglers are registered to compete in the 2011 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship. Because the field size for the event is capped at 300 anglers, a waiting list has been created to identify which anglers will fill the spots left vacant by registered anglers who are unable to make the trip.

This year’s event will feature an international field, including a team representing the Canadian Collegiate Bass Anglers as well as the defending national high school champions from The Bass Federation, all of whom will meet at Lake Lewisville, Texas on May 26 and 27 to decide the 2011 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing National Championship. Illinois High School Fishing State Championship Set For June 4

Ponca City, Okla. (May 10, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, announced it will be hosting the inaugural Student Angler Federation Illinois High School Fishing State Championship, June 4 at Rend Lake, Mt. Vernon, Illinois, at the Marcum South Boat Ramp. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in is online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031. Check-in begins at 5pm on Friday, June 3 in the Community Building at Veterans Park, Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  A mandatory rules briefing will follow at 7pm. Dover High School Team Goates & Chessher Named Arkansas State Champs

Lake Maumelle (Little Rock, Ark) 5/7/11 -Record-setting flooding in Arkansas had put about a third of the state underwater, making the event moved from the Arkansas River to Jolly Roger Marina at Lake Maumelle. The weather did a 180 with bright sunny skies on Saturday and was very cooperative with the first ever Arkansas High School Fishing State Championship event.  A total of 71 teams registered to fish this inaugural event.

Without even having a chance to prefish on Lake Maumelle, Dover High School Fishing club team members Kendall Goates and Cody Chessher were named 2011 Arkansas High School Fishing State Champions Saturday and will advance to the SAF High School Fishing regional tournament to be held in the fall, and a chance to fish in the SAF High School Fishing National Championship to be held next Spring alongside the FLW College Fishing tournament.
