Chin & Wall win Oregon High School Championships

July 1, 2012 – Competitors were faced with high water conditions and unstable weather patterns throughout the week leading up to the start of the TBF Oregon High School Championships. The Willamette River was running higher than normal water levels due to excess rain and being backed up by the Columbia River. The bass were scattered in the river, keeping the contenders on their toes on where to locate fish. The team of Nick Chin and Jacob Wall represented St. Mary’s High School of Medford, Oregon were able to locate 5 good keeper smallmouth bass to bring home the title of 2012 Oregon High School Champions. A combination of using tube baits and crankbaits produced the fish for the team. “We had a pretty good day and worked hard to catch the fish,” said Nick Chin.

Slater & Autrey Become First TBF Washington State High School Bass Team Champions

July 1, 2012 –  Nik Autrey, four-time state junior champion and David Slater, two-time junior champion, representing University High School Titans used there combined knowledge and experience to win the first ever Washington State High School Bass Team Championship on the Columbia River with a weight of 17.34 lbs. Wheeling Park High School Duo Win West Virginia High School State Championship

John Burkley and Nikita Slivchenko were the last team to the scales in Saturday’s West Virginia Student Angler Federation High School Fishing State Championship on the Monongahela River in Fairmont, WV. They needed 5lbs and 9 oz to take the lead over Alex Goff and Brandon Tinder from Herbert Hoover High School. As luck would have it, their five fish limit tipped in at six pounds even to win the title in the storm ravaged state that had been hit with 80 mph winds the previous night. Continue reading
