Wisconsin High School State Championship Date Change

High School Fishing LogoDue to a scheduling conflict we will be moving the 2014 Wisconsin SAF State Championship event from the original date of Saturday June 22nd on the Madison Chain of Lakes launching out of Winneconne Waterfront Park to Sunday May 18th. The New Location will be the Mississippi River launching out of the City of La Crosse and the Clinton Street Ramp.

The Registration date will be Saturday May 17th at the BFL trailer at the Clinton Ramp. Registration will start following the BFL weigh-in at approximately 4:00pm with the rules meeting to immediately follow.

Texas High School State Championship Sets Record!

On Saturday March 15, Eighty-Four teams of the very best High School anglers in Texas competed at the 2014 Texas High School State Championship on Lake Lyndon B Johnson just outside of marble falls Texas.  The anglers came ready to fish and the fish were ready to bite! Big fish were caught and records were broken.

These high school anglers racked up some stats at this event that would make most veteran adult bass fisherman drool.

The 2014 Texas High School state champions was the team of Joe Beebe and Will Brady from the Woodlands College Park Cavaliers with a staggering 32.00 pounds in their five fish limit! That is the new five fish SAF national high school all time weight record! The anglers were a bit shocked at their own weight and beamed that they caught all their fish on babybass colored soft plastic stick baits in shallow water.  For their win the duo received $5000 in college scholarship funds ($2500 each) as well as advancement to the 2014 High School Fishing Regional Championship.

They were followed closely by several 20 pound bags. Finishing in second place with 23 pounds even was two anglers from the Angelos Anglers team of Tristin Riddle and Sterlyn Wood they also earned advancement to the regional championship and scholarship in the amount of $2500 ($1250 each), rounding out the top three was a team from Centex High School Basshunters, Justin Tatum and Stephen Shaw with 20-11.

Big Fish was a WHOPPING 10 pounds and 03 ounces weighed in by Dalton Dension and Nicklaus Langlois of the FAN High School Bass Team.

The top 10 percent of each high school state championship advances to the regional contest. Advancing for this event are 8 teams total including are the top 3 listed above as well as 4th place team Bo McGraw and Josh Perrin of Oak Ridge War Eagles, 5th Austin Ellis and Ben stripling from Marble Falls High,  6th was Wyatt Frankens and Clay Nash of the Corrigan Camden High School Fishing team, Hank Bostock and Calvin Burks also from the Corrigan Camden High School Fishing team and finally, Jonathan Moore and Anthony Menge of the ERA Hornets Bass Club.

KHSAA Regional Registration Now Open for Fishing

KHSAAKentucky High School Athletic Association Regional Registration Now Open for Fishing

 

Registration will run THROUGH april 1

BENTON, KY (March 13, 2014) – Registration for teams participating in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) bass fishing regionals April 5 and 6 is now open. All registrations will take place at www.highschoolfishing.org. Simply click on the KHSAA logo on the right hand side of the page, select regional under tournament type then select the region your school is in. From there you will fill in the information requested and submit your team’s entry.

To enter, teams must be members of an approved high school fishing team at a KHSAA member school. Students wanting to participate at schools that have not yet authorized a bass fishing team should contact their athletic director.High School Fishing Logo

  • Region 1 will fish Lake Barkley out of Kuttawa Harbor Marina located at 1709 Lake Barkley Drive in Kuttawa, KY, on Saturday, April 5
  • Region 2 will fish Herrington Lake out of Chimney Rock Ramp located at 250 Chimney Rock Road in Harrodsburg, KY, on Saturday, April 5
  • Region 3 will fish Lake Cumberland out of Conley Bottom Marina located at 736 Highway 1275 N (Camping Area Road) in Monticello, KY, on Sunday, April 6
  • Region 4 will fish Cave Run Lake out of Cave Run Marina (Scotts Creek Ramp) located at 4325 KY 801 South in Morehead, KY, on Saturday, April 5

Each school can enter up to and including six boats for regional competition. Each boat must be entered separately and include the names of the two anglers who will start the day fishing out of the boat (each boat is allowed up to four anglers, with only two fishing at any given time). The name of the boat captain who will operate the boat for the students while on the water must also be provided at the time of entry. The names of any substitute anglers or boat pilots will be recorded at the Registration/Rules meeting for each regional.

Boat takeoff position will be determined by random computer draw and will be assigned at the rules briefing for each event.

The KHSAA bass fishing state championship will be held Friday and Saturday, April 25-26 on Kentucky Lake out of Kentucky Dam Marina located at 466 Marina Drive in Gilbertsville, KY.
