Matt Neiburg and Zach Madsen of Blair High School weighed 15 pounds to win the Southern Conference Championship

TBF along with FLW held the High School Southern Conference Championship on Saturday in conjunction with the FLW College Fishing Southern Conference Championship. Teams from across the region were competing and Matt Neiburg and Zach Madsen, both of Blaire, Neb., representing Blair High School, won the tournament, which was also held on Lake Dardanelle, with a five-bass limit weighing 15-0.

The team beat their closest competitor, Little Axe High School/Depew High School, by 2 pounds.

“We caught them on Senkos, and it was tough,” said Madsen, a senior at Blair. “We caught two right away and then we caught two more.”

“We went to a spot and I threw a Senko and had a good one on, and we just kept on throwing that Senko,” said Neiburg, a senior at Blair. We were told to keep throwing it and it might only be a fish an hour, but it might also get it done.” Continue reading

Queens Win Southeast Conference Championship on Wylie

TBF along with FLW held the High School Southeastern Conference Championship on Saturday in conjunction with the FLW College Fishing Southeastern Conference Championship. Eight teams from across the region were competing and K.J. Queen and Chelsey Queen, both of Catawba, N.C. representing Bandys High School, won the tournament, which was also held on Lake Wylie, with a five-bass limit weighing 10-7.

The team beat their closest competitor, TL Hanna High School out of South Carolina by a mere 14 ounces. Continue reading

Michigan Wins Central Conference Championship on Carlyle Lake, Ill.

TBF along with FLW held the High School Central Conference Championship on Saturday in conjunction with the FLW College Fishing Central Conference Championship. Eight teams from across the region were represented and Nick Marsh, Commerce Township, Mich., and Kyle Boe, Lake Porion, Mich., from Michigan – SAF, won the tournament which was also held on Carlyle Lake.
