Texas High School Fishing State Championship Set For May 21

Ponca City, Okla. (March 14, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, announced it will be hosting the inaugural Student Angler Federation Texas High School Fishing State Championship, May 21 at Lake Lavon, just outside of Allen, Texas. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, is online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031. Check-in begins at 4:30pm on Friday, May 20 at the brand new Cabela’s Retail store U.S. Highway 75 at the Stacy Road exit in Allen, Texas, with a mandatory rules briefing at 6:30pm. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration is at 4pm on Friday, June 24 at the TBF tournament trailer, Wilson State Park, Hells Creek Ramp, with a mandatory rules briefing at 6pm. Marble Falls, TX SAF Club Holds Inaugural Tournament

What a great day!  Despite a WINDY, chilly and damp start – the team launched at 7:30 am with 6 boats and 11 student anglers.  One member had to pull out due to illness but know he will be back in the hunt!  Sun came out and winds decreased and it was GO BIG or GO HOME!   As a TEAM, the anglers brought in a healthy 47.9 pounds of bass to the weigh-in!
