Anderson & Lenz Crowned Georgia High School Fishing State Champions

Ponca City, Okla. – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, hosted the inaugural Student Angler Federation Georgia High School Fishing State Championship, June 19 at Lake Lanier, Gainesville, Ga.  The state championship was a two person team event for students in grades 9-12.

Dalton Anderson and Dawson Lenz of McIntosh High School were victorious, weighing in a 5 bass limit that weighed 12.30 lbs, making them the Georgia High School Fishing State Champions. Second place went to the Baconton Community Charter School team of Kyle Parks and Tyler Classon. They weighed in 4 fish that weighed 9.89 lbs. Third place team Levi Baker and Brad Bass of Loganville High School had big bass of 3.72 lbs and weighed in a 4 bass limit of 9.61 lbs. Continue reading

Michigan High School Fishing State Championship Changed to July 9

Ponca City, Okla. (June 21, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, announced it will be hosting the inaugural Student Angler Federation Michigan High School Fishing State Championship, Sunday, July 10 at Kent Lake at Kensington Metropark West Ramp, 2240 W. Buno Road, Milford, MI 48380.  Due to a location conflict, the location and date has been changed from Whitmore Lake to Kent Lake, as well as the date that was originally scheduled for June 25-26. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, is open online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031. Check-in begins at 4pm on Saturday, July 9 at the same location at Kensington Metropark..  A mandatory rules briefing will follow at 6pm. We highly encourage all teams to pre-register online or by phone well in advance to avoid late registration fees.

2011 Fall Regionals Announced for High School State Champions

The winning two-person team from each state championship advances to an FLW Outdoors/TBF High School Fishing Regional Championship held in conjunction with a National Guard FLW College Fishing Regional Championship hosted on a college campus this fall.

The winners from each regional will advance to the FLW Outdoors/TBF High School Fishing National Championship held on a college campus in conjunction with the National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship in the spring of 2012.

Each team that qualifies for a regional and/or national championship will receive a travel allowance to help offset expenses. The High School Fishing National Championship winners will also each receive a $5,000 scholarship to use at the university of their choice. Continue reading
