Marble Falls LBJ Tournament Results for MFHS Fishing Team – Sept. 10th

What a fabulous event!  We had 19 student anglers compete on 9 boats captained by Gary Simmank, Dusty Harkins, Bryan Ellis, Bill Flanary, Terry White, Collin Edwards, Dale Schmidt, Robert Nelson and a great surprise when Angler of the Year last season, Logan Clark, drove in from Angelo State to help us out!

Hunter McNeese and Austin Ellis both weighed in 7 lbs 5 oz but Hunter was awarded 1st place since he also had BIG BASS at 4 lbs 12 oz. Timothy Tucker came in 3rd with 3lbs 1oz. Other students weighing in fish were:

California High School Fishing State Championship Set For October 2nd

Ponca City, Okla. (Sept. 13, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, announced it will be hosting the inaugural Student Angler Federation California High School Fishing State Championship, Sunday October 2nd at Russo’s Marina on the CA Delta in Bethel Island, CA. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9-12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, is online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031. Minnesota High School State Champions Crowned!!

On Saturday 9/10/11 the Minnesota Federation of Bass Anglers held the first ever Minnesota State High School Bass Championship on Gull Lake in Brainerd, MN. Held at Cragun’s resort the weather was perfect, and the bass were biting. All participating teams caught and weighed fish.  Prizes were awarded to all participants regardless of their finish. Awards and prizes were furnished by our generous sponsors at Cabela’s, Ranger Boats, Solar Bat eyewear and Berkley.

The winners and new Minnesota State High School Champions are Nick Montilino from Edinaand James Stein II from Northfield.  Targeting 8 foot deep weed clumps with jigs; their limit of five bass weighed 16 pounds 3 oz, beating 2nd place Annandale Cardinal anglers James Chapman and Ryan Floistad whose bag weighed 12-8. Third place plaques went to Will Stolski and Parker Sundquist of the Brainerd Warriors with a 5 fish limit at 11-2. Continue reading
