South Bossier High School Wins Louisiana State Championship

Tyler Hilton and Caleb Crawford from South Bossier High School put together a five fish limit that weighed 15lbs 13oz to edge past the home town duo of Dustin Howell and Logan Anderson.  Howell and Anderson from Natchitoches High School also had a nice limit of fish that tipped in just two ounces behind at 15lbs 11oz.

The pair claimed the runner-up spot in the 78 boat field at Sibley Lake in Natchitoches, La., as well as, an 8lb beauty that claimed the Lew’s Big Bass award.

The top seven teams advance to the Southern Conference Regional Championship, which will be held in Shreveport, La., in October.

The City of Natchitoches and Northwestern State University once again served as host to the event, which drew anglers from across the state of Louisiana.

Coming in third, was the team of Trent Hunt and Joshua Dupree from Haughton High School who also had a limit weighing 14lbs 8oz.  Their bag was anchored by a very respectable 6lb 2oz Sibley Lake bass.

Colby Robinson and Nick Nocilla from Barbe High School came in fourth narrowly with a 14lb 4oz bag right in front of John Gault and Owen Greg from St. Fredrick High School with a 14lb 2oz limit.

Tyler Thames and Lauren Rowe from Live Oak High School claimed the 6th spot with a limit weighing 12lbs 10oz.  While Clayton Simmons and Preston Lonadier from Loyala College Prep High School locked down the final qualifying spot with a 12lbs 4oz.

The TBF/FLW Championship series continues its trek across the country with events in Illinois and Indiana coming up this weekend.

Kentucky High School Athletic Association Regional Registration Now Open for Fishing

Registration will run THROUGH April 19

LEXINGTON, KY (March 23, 2016) – Registration for teams participating in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) bass fishing regionals on April 23 is now open. All registrations will take place at www.highschoolfishing.org.

To enter, teams must be members of an approved high school fishing team at a KHSAA member school. Students wanting to participate at schools that have not yet authorized a bass fishing team should contact their athletic director.

  • Region 1 will fish Lake Barkley out of Kuttawa Harbor Marina located at 1709 Lake Barkley Drive in Kuttawa, KY, on Saturday, April 23
  • Region 2 will fish Lake Cumberland out of Halcomb’s Landing located just east of Wolf Creek Dam on US 127 in Jamestown, KY, on Saturday, April 23
  • Region 3 will fish Lake Cumberland out of Conley Bottom Marina located at 736 Highway 1275 N (Camping Area Road) in Monticello, KY, on Saturday, April 23
  • Region 4 will fish Cave Run Lake out of Cave Run Marina (Scott’s Creek Ramp) located at 4325 KY 801 South in Morehead, KY, on Saturday, April 23

Each school can enter up to and including six boats for regional competition. Each boat must be entered separately and include the names of the two anglers who will start the day fishing out of the boat (each boat is allowed up to four anglers, with only two fishing at any given time). The name of the boat captain who will operate the boat for the students while on the water must also be provided at the time of entry. The names of any substitute anglers or boat pilots will be recorded at the Registration/Rules meeting for each regional.

Boat takeoff position will be determined by random computer draw and will be assigned at the rules briefing for each event.

The KHSAA bass fishing state championship hosted by Calvert City, KY, will be held Friday and Saturday, May 13-14 on Kentucky Lake out of Kentucky Dam Marina.

Final FAN HS Qualifying Event of the ‘Let There Be Havoc’ on Lake Austin

FAN logoChase Hux and Matt Nicholas representing New Braunfels Christian Academy take the win at the final FAN HS qualifying event of the Let There Be Havoc on Lake Austin presented by Berkley Havoc with a 5 fish limit weighing 18.47 pounds including a 5.46-pound largemouth.

Forty teams were greeted to a cool and misty morning on the shores of Lake Austin Saturday, March 12.  The moist skies would clear out shortly after the pre-launch prayer, national anthem and safety check leaving the 92 anglers and their captains to put their strategies and skills to the test on this final qualifying event of the 2015-2016 season.  One team would earn the coveted Berkley Anglers of the Year and separate the field for the 2015-2016 FAN High School Championship with over $6000 in Scholarship Funds.
