BUNKER HILL HIGH SCHOOL WINS NORTH CAROLINA CHAMPIONSHIP

Dylan Lamm and Austin Blair put together a five fish limit that weighed 14 pounds, 13 ounces, to capture the North Carolina High School Fishing State Championship on Lake Norman on Saturday. The pair bested a 42 boat field to win the championship titles and trophies.  They’ll also advance, leading a four team contingency, to the Southeast Conference Regional Championship on Lake Cumberland in Somerset, Ky., in September.

“We caught the majority of our fish first thing this morning on a whopper popper,” Blair, who will be a junior next year, said.  “We got a limit early fishing shady areas and docks,” Lamm added,” and then all of our fish but one came on the whopper popper.” The smiling duo also stated that keeping confidence up all day was the key to their success.

NC 2ndComing in second, was the team of Noah Howard and Brady Trueheart from South Granville High School with a limit of bass weighing 14 pounds 3 ounces.

NC 3rdTyler Dunn and Mathew Shrewsberry from Beddingfield High School claimed the third spot with a limit that tipped in at 13 pounds 1 ounce.

The team of Seth Hartman and John Crain from Cherryville High School had a limit of Lake Norman beauties that weighed 11 pounds 1 ounce to claim fourth place and the final regional berth.

All SAF Anglers nationwide are invited to the High School Fishing World Finals in Florence Alabama in two weeks. A large field of teams from over 20 different states and over $60,000 in scholarships and prizes are on the line for the winning teams.

The 2016 North Carolina State Championship was a two-person (team) event for students in grades 7-12. The top 10 percent from each SAF state championship field and the top three teams from each of the seven TBF/FLW Opens will advance to a Conference Championship event.  The top 10 percent of each conference championship field will then advance to the High School Fishing National Championship, in the spring of 2017. The High School Fishing national champions will each receive a $5,000 scholarship to the school of their choice.

In addition to the state, conference and national championship events, all High School Fishing anglers nationwide qualify for the world’s largest high school fishing, standalone, championship event, the 2016 High School Fishing World Finals. The 2016 World Finals is coming up June 28 – July 2 on Pickwick Reservoir in Florence, Ala., with over $60,000 in scholarships and prizes up for grabs.  Click HERE for more details.

DENNY AND LOTT WIN OKLAHOMA HIGH SCHOOL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

OK State Winning SackJacob Lott and Blake Denny put together an impressive five bass limit weighing 17 pounds, 6 ounces to win the SAF Oklahoma High School Fishing State Championship on Saturday at Three Forks Marina in Muskogee, Okla. The pair had a 5 pound 8 ounce beauty that anchored their winning sack to earn them the championship titles, trophies and a slot in the Southern Conference Regional Championship in Shreveport, La., in October.

OK State 2nd Place

They will lead a four team contingency starting with the second place team of, Kaden Knoch and Jacob Keenum, who had a limit weighing 16 pounds, 4 ounces.

Ok State 3rd Place

Ty Crutchfield and Kyle Burks, claimed the third position with their limit tipping the scales at 12 pounds 15 ounces.  Followed by the fourth and final qualifiers, Blayke Haggard and Kolby Frazier, who had a limit that weighed 12 pounds12 ounces.

OK State Winners

RICEVILLE BASS FISHING TEAM WINS IOWA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

IA HS WinnersKaleb Tweite and Kyler Bauer brought in a five bass limit weighing 13 pounds, 8 ounces, to win the TBF/FLW Iowa High School Fishing State Championship on the Mississippi River.  The win earned them the championship titles, trophies and slots in a Conference Regional Championship to be held in the Fall.

Coming in second was the team of, James Ford and Isaiah Minton, from Eastern Iowa High School.   The duo had a five fish limit weighing 9 pounds, 14 ounces.
