Herring & Pate Win Louisiana High School Fishing State Championship on Cross Lake

Luke Herring and Tyler Pate of the North Desoto High School Fishing Club brought an impressive 24.12 pound bag of bass to the scales to be crowned Louisiana State Champions.  They wasted little time with their winning bag noting they caught all their fish before 10am. The pair also took the Lew’s Big Bass Award with a 7.6 pound lunker and will advance to the national championship event.

There was a great crowd for weigh in to watch the field of over 120 boats bring their fish to the scales.  Most teams reported catching their fish on chatterbaits, jigs, square bill crankbaits and spinnerbaits.

Coming in second place were Tripp Bowman and Matthew Nesbitt from Haughton High School with 17.11 pounds.  Third place went to Wesley Banks and Hunter Israel from the West Ouachita Fishing Team with 15.2 pounds.  Rounding out fourth and fifth was the Haughton High School team of Zack Hogg and Jacob Dupree with 14.2 pounds and Garrett Pierce and Gunner Gray from Benton High School with 12.2 pounds.
