Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources Propose Asian Carp Netting Trial

Ponca City, Okla.,-Nov. 17, 2011 – In a proactive attempt to stave off the onslaught of Asian Carp the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources will be conducting a trial netting program in Kentucky and Barkley Lakes.

Ron Brooks from the KDFWR addressed a crowd of 40 interested participants who attended the Kentucky Dam and Village Convention Center. He explained to the group Asian Carp are now in every tributary of the Mississippi River ranging as far north as North Dakota. The waters of Kentucky and Barkley Lakes are infested and the numbers are growing in record proportions.    Continue reading

Marble Falls High School Fishing Holds Club Tournament on Inks Lake

We launched 6 boats and 12 student anglers from the MFHS Fishing team before dawn on Inks Lake this morning. It was a gorgeous sunrise and we enjoyed a terrific day on the lake. The following members weighed in:

Marble Falls (TX) SAF High School Fishing Club Holds Club Tournament

What a great day on Lake Marble Falls!

MFHS SAF Fishing Club launched 8 boats with 19 student anglers into a gorgeous sunrise. We had to do some last minute shuffling to get everyone on a boat and while some had three anglers and a captain, we got it done!

None of this is possible without the generous support of our wonderful sponsors and Boat Captains!  We welcomed two new boat captains on Saturday, Stan Manning from Marble Falls and Rusty Head from Buda. They joined Bill Flanary, Dusty Harkins, Gary Simmank, Collin Edwards and our 2011 Angler of the Year, Logan Clark from San Angelo State. Continue reading
