Registration Reminder for Maine SAF State Championship

Don’t forget to register for the Maine SAF State Championship coming on July 19th to Brewer Lake in Orrington Maine. On-line Registration closes on Friday July 18th at 10:00am EST for this event. The registration check-in/rules meeting will take place on Saturday morning July 19th at the Brewer Lake Launch ramp located on Brewer Lake Road at 7:00am. Take off is scheduled for 8:00am and the weigh-in is scheduled for 1:00pm at the launch ramp area.

This event is open to all High School anglers in the state and requires no qualification other than being an SAF member.

To register go to highschoolfishing.org and click the yellow box on the right hand side that says “State Championships” when the schedule appears scroll down to Maine and then go across to where it says “register” and click that box. Sign up both anglers here and be ready for Saturday’s event!

The top 10% of this field will advance on to the TBF/FLW High School Regional event in with a chance to advance on to the High School National Championship and a $10,000 scholarship.

Registration Reminder!

The High School Fishing World Finals On-line Registration will close on Sunday July 13th at 4:00pm CST.

Be sure to register your two person team at highschoolfishing.org by going to the right hand side of the page where the blue box says “HS World Finals”. Click on that box and it will take you to the registration site where you can enter your teams’ information for this year’s exciting event. https://www.highschoolfishing.org/2014-high-school-fishing-world-finals/

 

Teams will once again be invited to our Check-in/ rules meeting at Russellville HS on Tuesday July 15th.

Competition will begin on Wednesday the 16th at Lake Dardanelle State Park and will conclude with Saturdays Championship Finals where a new HSFWF Champion will be crowned.

 As always Friday night will be our angler celebration where all the teams and their families will be welcomed for a great night of fun and food.

Thousands in Scholarships and prizes will once again be given away again at this year’s event.

Dickson County High School wins Final TBF/FLW Open event on Lake Barkley

1-IMG_0269With the final qualifying spots for the Southeast Conference Regional Championship on the line the Dickson County High School duo of Dylan Dunnagan and Shader Brown brought in an impressive 5 bass limit that weighed in at 18lbs 7oz to win the 2014 Tennessee Open.

“We used a black and blue jig with a chartreuse strands to catch most of our fish today” stated Brown. “We used the 5 XD to get the school of fish turned on and then came back to pick up the stragglers with the jig” added Brown who is a senior this year at Dickson County High School. “We really need to thank our school for starting a High School Fishing Team” commented Dunnagan. “This program has given us a great opportunity to enjoy the sport we love and represent our school.”

1-IMG_0276Finishing right behind the leaders in second place was the Calloway County Kentucky team of Trevor Salyers and Cody Jackson who also had a nice limit of Lake Barkely Bass that tipped in at 16lbs 9oz. to also claim one of the three regional qualifying spots. The Obion County High School team of John Garrett and Jonathan Pool also had a limit of fish the tipped the scales at 13lbs 11oz to claim the final qualifying berth and the third place finish.

Winning the Lew’s Big Bass award for the day was the Calloway County team of Brandon Bogard and Colton Jennings who brought a 4lb 13oz beauty to the Lick Creek Park weigh-in site in Dover.

1-IMG_0263All three teams were then escorted to the FLW Pro Weigh-in where they took the stage to be recognized just ahead of the final FLW Tour event of the season at the Paris Tennessee Wal-Mart.
