Indiana SAF State Championship

Indiana Champions PicElijah Hamrick and Griffin Fernandes from the Wabash Valley Bass Club brought a nice 5 bass limit that weighed 10.31 lbs. to the Indiana Beach Resort scales on Saturday to win the SAF Indiana High School State Championship on Lake Shafer. Coming in second was the team of Chase Banister, John Weddle from Columbus East High School who also had a limit of fish that weighed 8.94 lbs and that was enough to outdistance Shawn Zellers and Beau Ashcraft also from the Wabash Valley Bass Club who finished third with 8.33lbs.

Hamrick and Ferandes will advance on to the Central Conference Regional Championship in Huron Ohio Later this fall.

A special thanks goes out to the Indiana TBF for organizing and running the event along with the City of Monticello Indiana who served as host for the annual event.

New York and Vermont Teams Catch Limits at SAF State Championship

 

Two teams from Vermont and four teams from New York took part in the 2014 SAF Dual state Championship held on the St. Lawrence River and all six teams delivered a limit of Bass to the scales.

Brandon Wells and Ethan Johnson from St. Johnsbury Academy brought in 17.75lbs to top the VT side of the event. The big bag was anchored by a 4.30 lb. beauty that carried the duo to the win and a trip to the Northern Conference Regional Championship which will be held in Bethel Delaware later this fall.

On the New York Side Alec Morrison and Perry Marvin brought in the biggest sack of the day that tipped the scales at 21.60lbs to win the New York event and also qualify for the fall regional. The big bag was anchored by a 5.5lb St. Lawrence hog that allowed the team to edge out Michael Arndt and Ryan Hujar brought in a five bass limit that weighed in at 18.40 lbs. to finish second.

All the teams brought in nice limits of fish in the event that was hosted by the New York Bass Federation.

Alex Goff and Zachary Horrocks win West Virginia State Championship

WV ChampionsLong time TBF youth angler Alex Goff teamed up with Zachary Horrocks to win the West Virginia High School State Championship Saturday on the Ohio River in the town of St. Marys WV.

The talented pair brought in a 5 bass limit the weighed in at 7lb 3oz to claim the title and a qualifying berth in the Central Conference Regional Championship later this fall in Huron Ohio.

Finishing second was Drew Sallada and Luke Humphreys of Nitro High School who had a 6lb 3oz sack. Coming in third was Will Billeter and Brendan Miller of St. Marys High School who had 4lb 10oz to finish third.

The event was postponed from its original date due to high water conditions on the Ohio River which can prove to be a very formidable foe for even the most seasoned anglers.  Congratulations to all the teams who participated.WV Top three teams
