Ranger Dealers Sponsor High School Trail in Ohio

Three Ohio Ranger Dealers are offering High School Anglers a chance to expand their Fishing Opportunities by participating in a three event trail across the state of Ohio. The events are open to all SAF members (regardless of state) and participants can register by going to highschoolfishing.org and click on the Tournaments Tab. Click on Ohio Ranger Trail when the drop down box appears. Entry Fee for each of these Ranger Trail events is $25 per boat and can be paid at the onsite registration meeting at each location.

ranger logoVic’s Sport Shop in Kent Ohio will host the first event on April 11th at Portage Lakes State Park in Akron Ohio. Anglers will be using the Old State Park Facility off of State Park Drive adjacent to Rt 619 in Akron. On-site registration/rules meeting for the event will be on Friday April 10th at 6:00pm at Vic’s Sport Shop located at 2039 Tallmadge Rd. Kent Ohio. Knox Marine in Fredericktown Ohio will host the second event on May 16th at Clearfork Lake. Registration /rules meeting will take place on Friday May 15th at Knox Marine located at 13285 Netherland Rd Fredericktown Ohio at 5:00pm. Dixie Marine in Fairfield Ohio will host the third event on Sunday May 31st at Tanners Creek Boat launch on the Ohio River in Lawrenceburg Indiana. Registration/rules meeting will be at Dixie Marine on Saturday May 30th.  Dixie Marine is located on Route 4, 5739 Dixie Highway in Fairfield Ohio. The registration/rule meeting will start at 3:00pm. All Ohio SAF anglers are also invited to fish the Ohio SAF State Championship on May 9th at Alum Creek State Park. This is a no entry fee event for all SAF anglers across the state with potential advancement to the TBF/FLW Conference Regional Championships for the top 10% of the field. Registration/Rule meeting for that event will be on Friday May 8th at the Cabela’s Store at 1650 Gemini Place in Columbus Ohio.

At the end of the three event trail the top overall team who has fished all three events will win a travel/lodging  stipend to attend the High School Fishing World Finals in Florence Alabama the Week of July 7th-11th.

2nd Annual Southwestern and Pulaski County High School Bass Fishing Tournament

The 2nd Annual Southwestern and Pulaski County High School Bass Fishing Tournament was held on Lake Cumberland, January 31st.  Sixteen teams of high school anglers from six different schools left Burnside Island in the frigid temperatures early Saturday morning.  The Southwestern team of Corey Frye and Logan Loveless took 1st place 17.55 and Big Fish with a 5.10 smallmouth.  In second place with 13.52 lbs., was the Pulaski County team of Kellen Wilson and Justin Mayfield. 3rd place with 10.27 was taken by the Pulaski County team of Levi Blevins and Michael Whitaker.
