Riceville Wildcats Win the Iowa State Championship

It may not have been the largest field in the 2015 TBF/FLW High School State Championship Series but there was absolutely no lack of effort on the part of Kaleb Tweite and Kyler Bauer as they tamed the Mighty Mississippi river for a sack of bass that weighed in at 8lb 6oz to win the Iowa SAF State Championship.

The pair also qualified for the Central Conference Regional Championship at Lake Carlyle Illinois in September with a chance to advance on to the TBF/FLW High School National Championship.
Fishing on the tail end of the Great Lakes Division of the BFL series the team from Riceville edged out runner-ups Sheldon Spears and Noah Clark of PCM High School who finished second with 7lb 14oz.
All SAF Anglers are invited to attend the High School Fishing World Finals which take place July 7-11th at Florence Alabama. No qualification necessary to attend and no entry fee for SAF members!

Lindbergh High School Wins Missouri SAF State Championship

2015 Missouri WinnersThe all-freshman team of Trey Schroeder and Grant Nisbet but together a five fish limit that weighed 14lbs. 12oz to win the 2015 Missouri SAF State Championship on Lake of the Ozarks.

The big bag was anchored by a 5lb 7oz toad that also helped the pair claim the Lew’s Big Bass award for the event. The win also gave the duo a qualifying berth in the Southern Conference Regional Championship in Pine Bluff Arkansas in October with a chance to qualify for next year’s High School National Championship.

Following right behind them by the narrowest of margins was the team of Ren Witte and Luke Ruprecht from Eureka High School who also brought in five fish to the Robins Resort weigh-in facility. The pair did have one deceased fish that lowered their total weight to 14lbs 12oz to finish a close second.

 

 
Missouri Third placeRounding out the top three teams were the pair of Jacob Sauer and Bruno Tesoro from Affton High School. They also had a limit of Ozark beauties that tipped the scales at 13lbs 10oz to finish third.
“We caught fish pretty consistently all day” Stated Grant Nisbet. Without a doubt the key to us winning was Grant catching that one big fish” added Schroeder. “We all went a little crazy in the boat when we got that one in added the smiling freshman!

All SAF Anglers across the country are reminded that registration is open for the 2015 High School Fishing World Finals in Florence Alabama the week of July 7-11th. No qualification is necessary and all SAF Anglers are invited to attend.

Nickolas Davenport and Hunter Baird Win Kansas State Championship Titles

Salina Kansas High School anglers Nickolas Davenport and Hunter Baird of the Salina Stix Fishing Team conquered blue bird skys a tough bite and 14 other teams to win the 2015 Kansas High School fishing State Championship Sunday on Milford Lake at Junction City, Kansas.

KS winners While some of the team caught a fish or to on top waters like spooks and frogs, others jigged and cranked their way into a couple of fish to weigh in.

The winners recognized that the bite had gotten tougher form the practice days  before and downsized to drop shots and slowed down to catch their 3 fish bag that weighed in at 6 pounds and 7 ounces.

Finishing in second was Zach Vielhauer & Nathaniel Thompson from Kansas SAF,  the team had two fish that weighed in at 4-06.

Rounding out the top 3 was a Hayden High School and Topeka Junior Hawgs team of Thomas Heinen and Brock Bila with 2 fish for 4-01.
