Taj White and Nathan Cummings win 2016 Arizona State Championship

The weather was perfect and the fish were biting this weekend as 26 teams from across Arizona traveled to compete on Martinez Lake.  The teams went head to head for the champion titles, as well as, two slots to advance to the Regional Conference event.

All 26 teams brought fish to the scale but it was the team of Taj White and Nathan Cummings from Phoenix who seized the win with a five fish limit weighing 22.21lbs.  White and Cummings also landed a #7.45lb lunker to solidify their win.

In second, and snatching the other spot for advancement was Ryder Hart and Isaiah Rios also from Phoenix with a five fish limit weighing #19.17lbs.  Hart and Rios also had tournament big bass with #7.74 kicker.

Both teams will advance to the Regional Conference event on Lake Havasu in October.

North Carolina SAF High School Fishing Trail Event #2

IMG_1465The second event of the North Carolina SAF High School Fishing Trail was held Saturday April 16th at Badin Lake. The morning started with cool temperatures and a brisk northeast wind.

For the second straight time the team of Jake Frye and Vance Hite won the event with a weight of 15.15 pounds. Second place was the team of Tyler Jones and Trey Oliver with 15.3 pounds. Third place went to the team of Bailey Albertson and Luke Brown with 13.0 pounds of bass.

IMG_1475The Ardent Reels big bass award went to Bailey Albertson with a bass weighing in at 5.7 pounds. The anglers and guest enjoyed a hot dog meal after the weigh-in. We want to thank the following for providing gifts given at the event Denali Rods, Ardent Reels, Field and Stream, Lucas Oil, Dr. Dan’s Lip Balm, Chair City Tackle Store in Thomasville NC, Outhouse Tackle in Raleigh NC, Caraway Custom Baits in Trinity NC, Harris Teeter Grocery Stores, Wal- Mart. And to Crystal, Miss Alex Jay and The Backwoods BassBoys for their help at weigh-in.

The next and final event of the 2016 trail has been rescheduled from May 7 to Saturday April 30th at Lake Norman, Pinnacle Landing at 6:30 a.m. The highest placing team in points going to the SAF High School World Finals this summer at Pickwick Lake will win a fund to help with expenses.

Chase Myers and Cole Swede Lead the Pack on Day One of the 2016 High School Fishing National Championship

HSChampionship1-172Ponca City, Okla., April 17, 2016 – Day one of the 2016 High School National Championship kicked off yesterday with twelve of the best teams in the country facing off on Table Rock Lake in Kimberling City, Mo.  These champion anglers won their state championships to advance to a regional event and conquered that to advance to fight for all the glory, the esteemed titles and a $10,000 scholarship to their college of choice.

After day one only five teams made the cut and will battle it out on Table Rock to decide who will be crowned champions.  Chase Myers and Cole Swede from Arkansas are leading it with a five fish limit weighing 15lbs 5oz.  They were boat one going out today leading the pack in hopes of winning it all.

In second, is Daniel Hechler and Cole Wessner from the SAF Cincinnati Youth Bass Club with a limit weighing 13lbs.  In third place is Tyler Matthews and Blake Stephenson from the Georgia SAF just under the limit with four fish weighing 11lbs 11oz.  In fourth place out of the Abbeyville Panthers High School is Daelyn Whaley and Carter McNeil with three fish weighing 11lbs 4oz.  Rounding out the top five with the last slot to advance today are the Panthers team Zeke Gosnett and Ryan A Sheilds with a limit of bass weighing 11lbs 2oz.

The top five championship anglers will weigh in in their fish in Rogers, Ark., in front of the huge FLW crowd at Walmart #1.  These anglers are the best of the best in high school fishing and today will decide their fates as the 2016 High School Champions are crowned.
