Berkeley High School Wins SC SAF Tournament Trail Event on Lake Murray

Berkeley High School on Lake MurrayBerkeley High teammates Dolton Wiggins & Cole Garrick with Boat Captain Gene Wiggins overcame major boat issues midway through the tournament to win the South Carolina SAF Tournament Trail event on Lake Murray.  The pair brought four fish to the scales weighing 10.04 pounds.

Coming in second, were Raymie Segars and Jack Covington representing Wilson Hall with 8 pounds.  Taking third place and also Big Fish honors was the team of Johnny Koester and Reid Shaw from Berkeley High School with one lunker weighing 6.13 pounds.

MOUNTAIN VIEW MAVERICKS WIN IDAHO STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

IMG_1424Jason Felter and Anthony Mellow from Mountain View High School in Meridian, Idaho brought in a five bass limit weighing 9 pounds 15 ounces to win the Idaho High School Fishing State Championship on Cascade Lake.  The pair had a 3 pound 6 ounce beauty that anchored their winning sack to earn them the championship titles, trophies and a slot in the Western Conference Regional Championship on Lake Havasu in October.

IMG_1419Just inching into second was the team of Gabe Litterell and Bryson Mort from Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with a limit weighing 9 pounds 10 ounces.

Third place went to Alex Torok and Jared Hoffman from Lake City High School with four fish that weighed 5 pounds 1 ounce.

The 2016 Idaho State Championship was a two-person (team) event for students in grades 7-12. The top 10 percent from each TBF/FLW state championship field and the top three teams from each of the seven TBF/FLW Opens will advance to a Conference Championship event.

Regional competitions begin with the Southeast Conference Championship on Lake Cumberland September 17 in Somerset, Ky.  The top 10 percent of each conference championship field will then advance to the High School Fishing National Championship, in the spring of 2017. The High School Fishing national champions will each receive a $5,000 scholarship to the school of their choice.
