Cobra Bass Club and Jessieville Bass Fishing Club fish their first high school tournament

The Cobra Bass Club and the Jessieville Bass Fishing Club fished their very first high school tournament on Lake Balboa in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas July 7, 2012. We had a break in the weather with cloud cover holding temperatures below 90 degrees instead of the 100+ we had experienced for the past two weeks.

Twenty seven students fished, making up 6 teams from each club plus three singles with the Cobra Bass Club. The students competed against each other for individual, big bass and club awards. The club trophy was awarded based on the highest total net weight of the 6 teams from each club. Individual awards for 1st, 2nd , 3rd and big bass were also presented. Each student angler was allowed to keep up to 3 bass with a minimum length of 11 inches.

Fishing was better than expected with six 3 bass limits and a total of 34 bass (all alive) brought in. Bringing in a 3 bass limit with a weight of 7.925 lbs. and a big bass of 4.66 lbs was Camron Fox winning 1st place individual.

The second place individual was Brandon Mann with 2 bass weighting 5.52 lbs. Brandon also won big bass with a bass weighting 4.70 lbs.

Coming in third with 3 bass weighting 5.375 lbs was Curtis Priest.

Winner of the club trophy was determined by the total net weight of the 6 teams in each club. Jessieville Bass Fishing Club won with a total net weight of 36.165 lbs.

A great time was had by all and the anglers wanted to know when we were doing another.

The tournament was sponsored by the Ouachita Bass Anglers.
