Alabama Bass Federation, Inc., first Qualifying 2023-2024 Junior/High School Tournament and SAF Alabama Open Challenge Tournament was at Satsuma, AL, 08/05/2023. The tournament launched out of Steele Creek Landing, Satsuma, AL, and tournament anglers were permitted to fish the waters of Tensaw / Mobile River and the Mobile Delta. The weather forecast for the tournament day was to be hot with mild winds, tournament participants were cautioned to remain hydrated and to care for their catch. For the 2023-20242 season there will be six ABF qualifying tournaments.
Following the days tournament competition, the team of Austin Denmark-Galvin Sigler of Citronelle Community Fishing Team captured High School 1st Place with a limit pushing the scales to 11.22. Austin and Galvin credited their tournament finish to working forks around grass. Triton Graham-Huntly Dees of Citronelle Community Fishing Team finished in 2nd Place with 9.35. Triton and Huntley punched grass to catch their limit of fish. Team of Griffin Davison-Lane Milstead of Escambia Academy Fishing finished 3rd Place with 9.11.
The teams of Austin Denmark – Galvin Sigler and Triton Graham – Huntley Dees both of Citronelle Community Fishing Team earned berths to the 2024 High School National Tournament. Congratulations to these teams.
Of the Junior teams the top position was claimed by the team of Trent-Ethan Williams of Satsuma Junior Fishing Team with a limit that weighed 8.27. Finishing 2nd was Camryn Davison-Jett Tillery of Escambia Academy JR Fishing with 6.67. Finishing in the top three (3) of the Junior Division was Tyson Milliken-Kason Bryant of Escambia Academy JR Fishing with 5.61.
Big fish of the tournament for the High School teams was a 3.63 caught by the team of Austin Denmark-Galvin Sigler of Citronelle Community Fishing Team. The team of Trent Dunnam-Ethan Williams of Satsuma Junior Fishing Team with a weight of 2.44.
