Arizona High School Fishing State Championship Set For September 25

Ponca City, Okla. (Sept. 6, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, announced it will be hosting the inaugural Student Angler Federation Arizona High School Fishing State Championship, September 25 Cholla Recreation Area, Roosevelt Lake, AZ. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9-12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, is online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031. Check-in is 4-5pm Saturday, September 24 at the Cholla Recreation Area with a mandatory rules briefing to follow at 5pm. We highly encourage all teams to pre-register online or by phone in advance. Nebraska Names High School State Champions

Ponca City, Okla. (Sept 3, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, hosted the inaugural Student Angler Federation Nebraska High School Fishing State Championship, September 3 on Maranatha Lake in Lincoln County, Neb. The state championship was a two person team event for students in grades 9-12.

The high school team of Adam Diehl and Drew Bailey of Lincoln County High School Bass Club were named champions after bringing in a 5 bass limit that weighed 11 lbs even. The team also brought in the tournament big bass that weighed 3.84 lbs. Second place went to Jarett Siefford and Tel Pyzer with a 3 bass limit that weighed 8 lbs 9 oz, and just short of the big bass honors with a 3.8 lb bass. 3rd place team was Trevor Lee and Jacob Zimbelman. Virginia HS Anglers Blanks and Roberts Win Northern Regional, Advance to National Championship

Jerry Roberts, Ringgold, Va., and Tanner Blanks, South Boston, Va., from George Washington High won the High School Northern Regional tournament held on Sayers Lake Saturday, Sept. 3.

September 3, 2011 – Jerry Roberts, Ringgold, Va.,  and Tanner Blanks, South Boston, Va., from George Washington High won the High School Northern Regional tournament held on Sayers Lake Saturday, Sept. 3. TBF along with FLW Outdoors held the high school tournament in conjunction with the FLW College Fishing Northern Regional.

The team representing the state of Virginia had four bass weighing 8 pounds, 4 ounces to beat Chariho Regional High School by 4 pounds, 9 ounces. The winning team will advance to the 2012 High School Fishing National Championship for a chance to win a $10,000 scholarship ($5,000 to each team member).

“We had a pretty tough day,” said Blanks. “We really had to take our time and fish real deep. We were fishing between 10 and 25 feet using black flake and green pumpkin wacky Senkos and drop -shotting. “This feels real good,” Blanks added.

“I want to for sure go to a school that has a bass fishing club, hopefully Virginia Tech,” said Roberts. “This is so cool. Continue reading
