Calloway County Hosts First Froggyland Bass Fishing Classic

The first Froggyland Bass Fishing Classic was a complete success as 16 teams of anglers registered for the competition. Cool, windy conditions did not hamper the event as teams from eight schools in Illinois, Tennessee and Kentucky competed to hook the big ones on Kentucky Lake at the May 12 tourney.

Sponsored by Calloway County High School and Froggy 103.7, the first place trophy, as well as the traveling team trophy, went to CCHS’s own Bracken Robertson and Dillon Starks with a total weight of 15 lbs. 5 oz. The split school team of Holhauser from Anna-Jonesboro, IL and Strack from Lyon County, KY came in a close second and the team of Cooksey and Finley from CCHS followed with a respectable third place finish.

Robertson also netted the Big Bass award with a 5 lb., 2 oz. beauty. Other schools giving the Calloway team a “run for the money” included Marshall  County and Reidland respectively.
