Seventy-three anglers and 39 boats braved inclement conditions on Folsom Lake, Calif., during the second annual Vista del Lago SAF High School Open on March 13. Wind, rain and cold temperatures made fishing a challenge; but the fish were biting. High school and junior teams traveled from as far away as Fresno in Southern California to compete. Lake County’s newly formed fishing club sent three teams and went home victorious with the first place team. Winners, Hayden Evans and Tate Smith, weighed in a five fish bag weighing 11.93lbs and took home trophies and new Dobyns Fury series fishing rods. They also went home with new Dobyns hats and Lucky Tackle Boxes full of tackle from the raffle that followed the fishing. Tyler Kenyon took first in the Junior division with an 8.61lb bag.
Anglers and boat captains are already looking forward to the third annual Vista del Lago High School Open in 2017.
