We launched 46 boats for the 2013 Fall Open on Lake LBJ hosted by the Marble Falls HS Fishing Team. It was an overcast morning on Saturday, Nov 9th but the teams were ready to go!
This High School Fishing event drew student anglers from over 18 different high schools in the Central Texas area from San Angelo to Austin to Houston. Once again these tournaments are not possible without the help of our volunteer boat captains which may be a Dad, Uncle, Family Friend or in many cases, an adult angler who is volunteering his time and resources to spend a day fishing with our youth. We are all blessed by such generous individuals.
The 2-angler teams brought 60 largemouth bass to the weigh-in totalling 108 lbs. and 8.5 oz. with a 98.3% release rate.
Awards were presented to the first three places and also BIG BASS – they winners were:
1st Place – Tristan Riddle & Sterlyn Wood from San Angelo. Captain was Brandon Riddle
2nd Place – Jack Degolier & Jake Meadows from Marble Falls. Captain was Paul Degolier.
3rd Place – Brent Sunvison & Harrison Lansdale from FAN HS Bass Team. Captain was Alan Landsdale.
BIG BASS – Austin Pegues – Marble Falls, 4 lbs and 14 oz!
A pizza lunch was enjoyed after the weigh-in and all the teams headed on way home. Many thanks to our Marble Falls team sponsors for allowing us the opportunity to host these events and to share the love of fishing to all fellow students and teachers. We look forward to this time again next year!
Congratulations to all the winners!
