New Mexico First High School and Youth State qualifier Held April 5,6 2025 at Elephant Butte Lake NM. The kids had some tough fishing conditions with Saturday Temps at Take off begin 28 degrees and snow/ hail mid morning on the anglers. We had to move the weigh in on Saturday to noon from 2pm due to gusting winds of 25-30 mph and unsafe conditions on the lake. But with a shorted day these boys were still able to bring in a 5 fish limit. Only in New Mexico can you go from a winter weather storm one day to a Blue sky 65 degrees day the next. With Sunday having a clear sky and no wind with the temps almost 70 degrees mid day. Make for a tough bite but the teams were able to change to the conditions and bring in a respectable limit.
