The 16th annual Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art Contest, presented by FLW, is open to all students and is currently seeking entries. The first-place winning state artists, written word winners, and their families will be invited to attend the Forrest Wood Cup in Columbia, S.C., Aug. 15-17. Every attending winner will be recognized personally onstage and will receive awards and prizes. National Art winners also will be announced and awarded.
Winning contestants from each state, Ontario, Canada, and other countries will be honored in four grade categories: K-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. All winning art and written words will receive national recognition on the State-Fish Art Contest website and be displayed at the FLW EXPO.
Those attending the FLW EXPO will be treated to a wide variety of family events throughout the weekend, including a special awards ceremony honoring all first-place and national winners with prizes, trophies and fishing gear.
Entries must be postmarked by March 31, 2014. State winners will be announced May 5, 2014.
To enter, young artists must create an original illustration of their chosen state-fish. A personal one-page written essay, story or poem on the fish’s behavior, habitat and conservation needs is also required.
