Defending High School National Champion Tyler Black didn’t take long to find a new partner in Logan Anderson and the result was the same as the pair from Bandy’s High School captured the 2015 North Carolina High School State Championship on Saturday at Lake Norman near Charlotte, NC.
A group of thirty six High School teams took to the waters of Lake Norman on Sunday to try and qualify for the Southeast Regional Championship coming up in September. A total of three teams would catch enough to advance to this event. Even with temperatures above 90, these students still caught plenty of fish, to bring to the scales. Black and Anderson brought in a limit of fish weighing 13.15 pounds to capture first place. Right behind them, in second place, was Conner Usher & Corey Lassiter from the Bass Warriors, with 12.08 pounds. The last qualifier was the team of Noah Howard & Brady Trueheart with 10.10 pounds.
Most all of the teams that weighed fish, said they caught a large portion of their fish on a shakey head or a jig, while fishing around docks. A few anglers also caught fish on a Carolina rig and a swim jig as well. Even on such a hot day, there were still twelve limits brought in by these young anglers.
There were also three anglers competing in the TBF Junior program. Hunter White brought in a nice limit of fish that weighed 8.14 pounds to take the Junior Championship title and advance to the Junior World Championship in Hot Springs Arkansas where he will once again represent the state in his third attempt to win that coveted crown of Junior World Champion. Brayden Mueller finished second with 1.07 pounds & Benett Bauer finished third. These young guys were also catching their fish on shakey head jigs as well.
